Bonjour again, and how are you allω
Were keeping on Keeping on, in the words of Marvin or Curtis, thinking positive on our current outlook and position, we enjoyed ourselves at our album launch, and thanks to everyone who came, The End Bar for having our rawkous selves, Small Town Dogs for playing before, us and everyone who came and partied the night with us.We played a pretty monster set by our standards, but we have played longer before, i remember a night at the Roadhouse in Manchester a couple of years ago when all the hits were dragged out the box-o-songs and played, that was another 'ring yr shirts out' night, we work hard we play hard!
So hopefully youre exploring the site slowly, as we slowly bring some content and lovelyness to the world wide web, were creating information and little features for you to use our site for your needs, and deciding about certain tracks and songs to share with you, but waiting til the release of our album ' Palomino' - 13/10/08 -

REVIEWS:
"" Rock Sound: 7/10 - Formerly known as The Sound Explosion, this Brit-rock foursome have been gigging hard since their debut album in 05, and it shows. Happily, their latest full-length discards any former "garage rock" associations in favour of a more well-rounded approach. As opening tracks go, 'Enchantment' is as invigorating as they come, while 'Pastlife' is song-writing at its most simple and effective. By the end, it's clear that The Sound Ex are just as good at being raw and edgy (think X is Loaded / Colour Of Fire) as they are at playing the mainstream indie rock card (think Supergrass or Feeder at their rockiest). Definitely ones to watch. ""
"" underclass-music.com - Rock indé as its best !…un jeune groupe qui pratique un Rock décapant aux mélodies entêtantes…un patchwork de chansons super bien ficelées que l'on situera entre un The Cure sous acide et un My Bullet from My Valentine en plus graisseux et Rock ! Très belles enlevées et compos super efficaces ! A découvrir d'urgence ! ""
"" music-dash.co.uk - By Parker Knoll: Formerly known as the (hotly tipped) Sound Explosion, the rock and roll outfit from Newcastle grace us with a post-big-deal-at-Sony album. It’s easy to see why the big boys didn’t think Sound Ex would fit in. They’re a purist rock band. There’s no choppy beat or street poet squawking here. Instead, you find plenty of head squashing grunge and uplifting sing-a-long growls. “Pastlife” is refined enough to make all of this palatable and suitably angular for those who like a bit of punch in their music. “Born In To The Grave” provides the band with a heavier slab of rock, but there’s still “Shaking Games” to serve up in an attractive Foos style broadcast of chartable fuzz. The Sound Ex may have a shorter name, but they’ve certainly not lost any of the qualities that previously got them noticed – they deserve more.""
"" Kerrang: KKK - Likely lad punkers from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne release noisy new album - You can tell The Sound Ex are an English punk rock band because their music sounds unpolished and raw. You could put it kindly by saying they can't really sing, but you could also say that it's good to hear a group who aren't Pro-Tooled within an inch of their white-toothed smiles. It may be damning The Sound Ex with faint praise to say this but this is a turn who sound like they could really kick up a storm in a live setting. Unfortunately, this isn't a live setting. Still, Palomino has it's moments, and comes thundering out of the speakers with enough conviction to grab your attention. For fans of The Subways, Leatherface. ""
"" Komodo Rock: 8.4 Hailing from my neck of the woods in good old Geordieland, 'The Sound Ex' are going to be one of the most important young bands ever to come out of Newcastle in the UK.

So weve had some positive things said about our hard work, and with this information were deciding to use our PRO-ACTIVITY and SELF-BELIEF and spend some concentrated time in the capital of the UK, LONDON KIDDDDDDSSSS!!!, if you have any suggestions where to live/stay/work/play/ then were all ears, us northern scum dont have much experience daaaahn sarf, so any ideas and were all ears.
Our recent Van worries have slowly been building up with us, on our current trip down to London to play Camden Barfly, travelling on the M1, just outside of grantham, half 8 in the evening so it was still light, a steady stream of cars, not busy, but not quiet enough to be a sunday evening, our van makes a noise, front left wheel, squeeling like a small dog that had been strapped to the tire, we pull over, get out and look at our front left wheel, smoke pouring from the inside of the wheel hub, and our wheel bearing had given out on us, after 180'000 miles and three times round the planet, the Trojan horse needed its horseshoes replacing. So a 4 hours wait on a wet motorway, a 4 hour ride with Michael in his Van-Saving maintenance truck, being left at a Ford Garage in Surrey, a 3 hour sleep and half 7 wake up walk ot the Ford garage, with the result of a £300 squid repair charge but a van with a modest sense of rolling on, we made the gig, played the gig, saved the gig, and felt sorry for the bands on after us, good luck to them though, i hope their current style of music continues beyond the 8-12 month shelf life that it has.
A thursday morning wake up call, telling us that we had been booked to play Sheffield Freshers Mania for about 3 months, but hadnt known about it, left us in a questioning kind of mood, but picked everyone up, friday evening, post work, and tried to refill the van here in Newcastle, which resulted in the shaft of metal in the plastic key coming out of the plastic holding, thus having to turn our Trojan Horses Locks with a Metal Shaft and Pliers, one safety method that has thieves scratching their heads in wonder!
But we travelled, played, impressed, tried to convert a large group of New2Uni kids into the wider world of Rock and Roll, instead of letting their bursaries pay for the liver failure, and we got everyone we set out to get.
So our plans as i sit writing this on a sunny Sunday afternoon, are, find somewhere to live in London at the end of October, slip a couple of live things up on the site for you to see if you enjoy, get a video or two of our fun up on here, get more gigs Dahn Sath, which were working very hard on and were slowly filling up the month of November with, repair my SG after smashing in on a cymbal at the end of the End Bar show, its playable and i love to play it for people, get some listenable things down and sorted, and get more gigs for you lovely people to hear us at, and let the world at large know who we are and what we stand for.
We really appreciate everyones support and were always thinking of you and how much people support our cause and get behind us, and for a group of people who write songs and make noise to try and make people happy, that is a very important thing to hold.
If we could play for each of you individually, we would do, let you pick the set list, play whatever you wanted, wherever you wanted, and hopefully sooner, rather than later, we will be playing near you all and you can come see and hear our songs, and say hello and introduce yourselves, well introduce ourselves.
Stay Safe, And Sound.
We will.
Mucho Amore.
